Aestas, the muse of new beginnings the harbinger of endings. She often appears within my work as a reminder to allow for the death of things. You may be a powerful force, fighting with all your might to keep what you perceive as essential, and yet, what if you put that strength toward something new? What if you let go of the things you are fighting against and begin fighting toward something that would serve you?
I’ve been painting Aestas for years after a real-world event led me to her. A part of my life changed the day I found the body of a crow on my pathway as I desperately clung to an unhealthy, dying thing in my life. I let it go. I trusted my inner force, and I was renewed. I’ve since portrayed her in my work as a sort of gatekeeper, welcoming those who are willing into new worlds. Will you step through her doorways?
