This listing is for the original drawing Held to One Another

You make to snare me in your depth

I hold your gaze,  fierce and mean

Though you could be my dying breath

I still keep your heartbeat within a dream

I once dreamed that I held the life of a black rattlesnake in the balance, and he held mine as well, the two of us having to form mutual trust in order to survive one another.  I’ve interpreted this dream a few times since having it.  The snake’s winding body reminding me of the sometimes terrifying paths we must take on our journeys toward higher purpose.  How we must not only believe in our own capabilities, but put a certain amount of faith into the things we cannot directly control.  Something which, for me, has often felt like handing my life over and trusting that the universe won’t crush it into dust beneath the moon.   This piece reflects the tension between faith and disbelief.  A moment where the two sides are at war with one another, just before the surrender and ultimate calm leads them to quiet their resistance and move onward in knowledge and trust.
