This piece is about perspective in moments of despair or confusion. During a cycle of depression, self doubt or anxiety, it can be tempting to give into the pain altogether and let it take all that is left of your sense
Within my work, mushrooms often represent decay, particularly of the mind. As the small figure makes their way through the mushroom forest, they seem to be running toward a distant and desolate shrine wherein a skeleton awaits them, ready to welcome them into true acceptance of their worst fears. But they could also be running toward the fox atop the roof whose tail glows far brighter than the taunting mushrooms, promising to lead them out of the confusion.
