Does it ever seem as if bad things are simply waiting for you in order to happen?
I have frequent dreams in which I arrive in distorted versions of realities I once knew to find predators waiting in the darkness for me. These are often big cats who wish to hunt me down. In some dreams, I can physically fight and defeat them, in others, though I’m able to somehow lift and hurl their bodies through the air, they just keep coming and I’m growing exhausted. In every case, I wake wondering what the dream was trying to say. Over the years I’ve come to almost hope for these dreams, terrifying as they are in the moment. I’ve come to see these cats as teachers, pushing me to my limits, and showing me that I’m capable of continuing the fight, even as it feels hopeless. Strife will always be waiting for us, and that’s a frightening thought, but just as likely, so will good things be awaiting our arrival. I’d like to think that the more we embrace the good moments and listen to the lessons we can take from the bad ones, the more capable we’ll be at fending off the cats when they try to run us down.
